MetSO Young Artist 2026
Be swept away by Rhapsody!
Join us for a spectacular afternoon of orchestral favourites, virtuosic brilliance and unforgettable melody. Taking centre stage, MetSO Young Artist Joshua Noronha is an emerging pianist recognised for his expressive playing, technical brilliance and thoughtful musicianship.
The program opens with the Australian premiere of Florence Price’s Concert Overture No. 1, a vibrant and energetic work, rich in orchestral colour by the trailblazing American composer who broke barriers as the first African-American woman to have a symphony performed by a major orchestra.
Gershwin’s ever-popular Rhapsody in Blue follows, a dazzling fusion of jazz and classical styles in one of the most iconic works of the twentieth century that perfectly captures the energy and spirit of this unique musical era.
The concert concludes with Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2, one of the most beloved works in the piano repertoire, renowned for its sweeping melodies, lush orchestration, dramatic intensity and breathtaking piano writing.
