Izaak
Wesson


Izaak Wesson is a conductor, cultural historian, and arts administrator from Perth, Western Australia.

A graduate of UWA with first class honours in musicology, Izaak has recently completed a master’s degree on medievalism in the operas of John Adams.

He is an alumnus of the Melbourne Youth Orchestra’s Conductor Development Programme, and was a participant in West Australian Symphony Orchestra’s Emerging Conductor's Program in 2020 and 2021.

Izaak founded the Perth Orchestra Project in 2017, and has since produced and conducted ten concert seasons; establishing the orchestra as a registered charity and commissioning eleven new works from Western Australian composers.

Since 2021, Izaak has been a regular Musical Director of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of WA (The Sorcerer, Iolanthe, HMS Pinafore), and in 2023 he has been appointed as the Musical Director of the South Side Symphony Orchestra.

From 2022 MetSO has been privileged to have Izaak as one of our Senior Orchestral Conductors and Artistic Advisors.

Izaak is stepped onto our MetSO podium once again for our 2024 Summer Season.
