Rupert Guenther
International Violinist / Music Educator

Rupert trained as a classical concert violinist in Vienna. He is a life-long player across many genres. Renowned for his versatility and expressive playing, he has held positions in the Vienna Chamber Opera and the Burgenland Symphony Orchestra (Austria), Australian Pops Orchestra and made concert tours across Europe with members of the Vienna Philharmonic.
Former sideman to the stars, artists he has worked with Beatles producer Sir George Martin, Olivia Newton-John, John Farnham and Demis Roussos to name a few.
Since 2003 he has released over 35 of his own albums including 5 albums commissioned and recorded by ABC Classic FM, and performed thousands of concerts of his own original unique site-specific works.
He regularly tours Australia and Europe as a soloist performing recitals of his own original classical music at venues and festivals worldwide including, Tate Britain (London), The Sydney Opera House, The Baroque Hall Adelaide, Denver University USA, Government House Ballroom Perth, The Melbourne Festival, Bombora House NYC USA, Wesak Festival Mt Shasta USA, The York Festival, Vienna University of Performing Arts, The Guildhall School of Music & Drama (London), Melbourne Recital Centre, The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff (Wales), WA Museum Boola Bardip Perth, WA Shipwrecks Museum Fremantle, and many more.
He lives on farm in the Western Australia countryside with his partner Tanya Servaas and their farm pets.
MetSO is honoured that in 2026 Rupert is joining our String Development Team alongside Hannah Herriman and Ronald Thomas AM. Rupert and Hannah will be heading up our MetSO Intermediate String Orchestra (MISO) and Avanti Beginner Ensembles.
