MetSO Young Artist 2021 - Lachlan Higgins

Lachlan Higgins is a Baritone recently graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). After receiving his Certificate IV in Musical Theatre in 2017, Lachlan has now completed his Bachelor of Music degree specialising in Classical Voice. During this time he has studied under the widely respected tutelage of Megan Sutton.

Over the last few years Lachlan has been actively involved in the performance scene in Perth. He has worked alongside Perth Symphonic Chorus, UWA Choral Society as the Bass Soloist, Lost and Found Opera Company, WASO chorus, Voiceworks Choir, Four on Six Ensemble, and the Master of Ceremonies and performer in Gregory Yurisich’s Masterclass Series. Additionally, he works as a freelance vocalist for events, ceremonies, and performances such as the State Arts and Culture Partnership Honours and the WA Australian of the Year Awards Ceremony.

During his time at WAAPA he has been involved in Opera performances of Orpheus in the Underworld as the title role of Orpheus, Die Fledermaus as Dr Blind, From Marathon to Waterloo under the direction of Stuart Maunder, and this year he is excited to be performing in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance as the Modern Major General. He has also performed as a member of the WAAPA Oratorio and Government House Gala Concerts since commencing his studies in 2018.

Unfortunately due to ill health Lachlan Higgins was unable to perform at our 2021 Summer Gala Event.


2022

Lachlan stepped onto the MetSO Stage for our February - MetSO Young Artists Gala at the Government House Ballroom (see details below).
